If you're renovating in New Lambton, room by room or all at once, Corella Painting is two minutes away, in Adamstown. We fill and sand properly, put sample patches up before you choose, and finish every room in two coats.
When your painter is two minutes away, you can see the colour on your own wall in your own light before a single tin is bought.
Painting in New Lambton
New Lambton grew from a small miners' village into an independent township in 1889, and the old centre along Regent Street still has the feel of its own town. Around it the streets mix older weatherboard cottages with brick bungalows, post-war houses and newer renovations, often on the same block. That makes it a suburb of interiors for us: families opening up old rooms, painting over decades of colours, and trying darker, bolder walls than the house was built with. The New Lambton navy wall is one of ours.
Dark colours, done properly
More New Lambton clients are asking for dark walls than ever: navy, deep green, charcoal behind a bookshelf. They look great on the right wall, and they're unforgiving. A pale colour hides small dents and old patches. A dark one picks up every flaw in the plaster and every change in the sheen, and the low afternoon light across a room shows the lot.
So the work is mostly done before the colour goes on. On the New Lambton navy wall, under a sloping ceiling, the wall was filled and sanded twice, and the line between the navy and the crisp white ceiling was taped and cut. On any dark wall we also spot-prime the filled patches so they don't flash through the top coat, and roll the final coats in one direction so the finish reads even from the couch.
Painting while you live there
Most of the interiors we paint in New Lambton are lived-in houses, with kids, pets and work-from-home desks in them. We plan the job around that. The quote sets out an order, usually the bedrooms first and the living areas last, so you're never without somewhere to sleep or cook.
Each morning the furniture in that day's rooms is moved to the middle and covered, the floors are sheeted, and switches and fittings come off or get taped. At the end of the day the rooms in use are cleared and put back. If you're renovating in stages, we can paint each part as the builder hands it over, rather than waiting for the whole job to finish.
Our nearest suburb
Our base in Adamstown is about two minutes from most of New Lambton, so it's the suburb we can serve best. A quote visit can happen on short notice, sample pots can go up the same day you pick them, and a touch-up after the furniture goes back is a quick drop-in, not a booked return visit. If something on the job needs a second look, we're around the corner.
The same goes for outside work. A New Lambton weatherboard repaint depends on dry boards, and the shaded south walls under big trees can stay damp well into the morning. Being this close, we can check them before we commit to a day, and start on the sunny side while the rest dries.
What we paint in New Lambton
01
Feature walls in dark colours
Navy, forest green and charcoal walls, where every dent and patch shows. The wall is filled and sanded twice, the line to a white ceiling taped and cut, and a sample goes up first so you see it in your own light.
Three-bedroom houses repainted while you live in them, one or two rooms at a time, so there's always a bedroom and the kitchen you can use. Furniture moved and covered, and each room put back the way we found it.
Cottages where the north wall has chalked and the south wall has gone green. Mould washed off and treated, flaking boards scraped back and primed, then two coats, with the windows and fascias done in the same visit.
Our ceiling slopes. How do you get a clean line where a dark wall meets it?
By taping and cutting it by hand, the way we did on the New Lambton navy wall under a sloping ceiling. A raked ceiling line is never quite straight, so we follow the actual junction rather than a level line, paint the white ceiling first, then tape and cut the navy to it. A slightly crooked join is far less noticeable than a ruler-straight line that drifts off the corner.
We want a navy wall in the living room. Will it show every flaw?
It will if the prep is rushed. Dark colours show every patch, dent and roller line, so on the New Lambton navy wall we filled and sanded the wall twice before any paint went on, then taped and cut the line to the white ceiling. A sample patch first is worth it: navy looks very different at nine in the morning and at four in the afternoon.
Can we stay in the house while you paint inside?
Yes, and most of our New Lambton clients do. We work one or two rooms at a time, move and cover the furniture, and leave you a bedroom and the kitchen at the end of each day. The quote shows the order of rooms, so you know which ones you'll be without and when.
How much is it to paint the inside of a three-bedroom house?
For our jobs, a three-bedroom interior usually comes to $7,000 to $14,000 + GST. Where a New Lambton house lands in that range comes down to ceiling heights, how many coats of old colour are on the trims, how much cracked plaster needs filling, and whether you're changing from light to dark. Every room and coat is listed on the quote.
We've extended the back. Can you match the old part of the house?
Usually, yes. We look at both halves on the quote visit, because new plasterboard and old walls take paint differently: the new work needs a sealer, and the old walls may need cracks raked out and filled. Then the whole run gets the same top coats, so the join between old and new disappears.
Can you come and look at sample colours on the wall with us?
Easily. We're two minutes away, so we can paint sample patches on your walls, let you live with them for a day or two, and drop back to talk them over without it costing you a morning. It's the simplest way to avoid a colour you regret.
Tell us what needs painting
A few lines and a photo or two is enough. We'll ring to book a look, then leave you a written quote with every surface and every coat on it. No obligation, and no follow-up calls chasing you if you decide to wait a while longer.
